Dave vs. Goliath. We’re Dave. Dave is a financial app on a mission to build products that level the financial playing field. It is redefining the financial landscape by leveraging technology to create an affordable, transparent, and user-centric access to liquidity for millions of Americans. As a leading innovator in the U.S. financial services sector, Dave’s digital financial platform offers products designed to meet the credit needs of those underserved by traditional financial institutions. Dave’s offerings include its flagship ExtraCash product, providing members up to $500 in short-term advances within minutes. The company is on track to launch several new product offerings in 2026, including a Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) option. Dave is focused on serving Americans who are financially vulnerable or living paycheck to paycheck. Dave is leading the charge in creating a new era of credit products that prioritizes speed, affordability, and accessibility, making it the go-to financial partner for those who need it most. The Opportunity This is a senior, deeply hands-on role on a small, high-leverage SRE team (3–4 engineers). You’ll serve as a technical anchor across cloud infrastructure and networking, shaping how reliability, automation, and performance are embedded into every layer of our platform. You won’t just respond to incidents. You’ll design the systems that prevent them. You’ll partner closely with the Director of DevX & Infrastructure Engineering and cross-functional teams to evolve our GCP platform in ways that support product velocity while protecting long-term durability. What You’ll Build and Own Lead architecture and automation across our GCP environment, ensuring reliability, scalability, security, and thoughtful cost management. Define and improve SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets using Cloud Monitoring and Datadog — connecting reliability goals to real business outcomes. Shape our multi-region, disaster recovery, and capacity planning strategies so the platform holds up as we grow. Design and optimize cloud networking, including VPC architecture, ingress/egress, Cloud Armor, VPN, and DNS to support internal systems, partner integrations, and member-facing services. Drive infrastructure-as-code and GitOps practices using Terraform, Kubernetes, Helm, and ArgoCD to make deployments predictable and repeatable. Mentor SREs and infrastructure engineers through design reviews, incident retros, and hands-on collaboration — strengthening technical depth across the team. You’ll also explore practical LLM-driven automation where it meaningfully reduces operational toil and shortens incident resolution time. The Impact Reliable systems mean members can access ExtraCash, banking, and credit-building tools when they need them most. Your work directly supports trust, growth, and long-term platform resilience. What we’re looking for Experience & Technical Foundation 8+ years in software, infrastructure, or site reliability engineering. 5+ years of hands-on experience operating production systems in GCP (compute, networking, storage, IAM, observability). Deep experience with Kubernetes (GKE), Helm, containerization, Terraform (IaC), and ArgoCD. Strong programming skills in Python, Go, or TypeScript/JavaScript for automation and internal tooling. Experience defining and operating against SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets. Strong knowledge of relational and distributed databases (e.g., MySQL, Cloud SQL, Cloud Spanner, Redis), including performance tuning and HA strategies. Experience leading incident response, root cause analysis, and systemic remediation. Bonus Experience in fintech or regulated environments Familiarity with CI tooling (GHA, Jenkins, Tekton, CircleCI) Experience in high-growth startups. What Makes Someone Successful Here You take responsibility for outcomes, not just deliverables. You think in systems — how networking decisions affect latency, how reliability targets affect member trust, how cost decisions affect long-term sustainability. You balance urgency with durability and make thoughtful trade-offs that hold up over time. You’re comfortable operating in ambiguity. Not everything is fully defined — and you help shape it. You ask good questions before committing to a path and connect day-to-day execution to broader business goals. You also collaborate naturally. You partner with product engineers, TPMs, and security teams without creating friction. You use feedback to sharpen solutions. You invest in mentoring others because strong systems include strong engineers. What to Expect We move quickly, but not chaotically. Priorities evolve as we learn from data and growth. You’ll have meaningful autonomy and visibility, along with clear accountability and partnership across the organization. Why Join Dave A mission that directly improves members’ financial lives. Real scope on a small, high-impact team. The opportunity to shape platform architecture at a profitable, growing public company. Complex, meaningful technical challenges with long-term influence. About the Role We’re hiring a Vendor Operations Manager to help scale and strengthen how Dave partners with offshore BPOs supporting our members. This role sits at the intersection of Risk, Compliance, and Operations — ensuring our dispute and fraud workflows are accurate, compliant, and built to scale. The Opportunity You’ll take ownership of how vendor-supported dispute operations run day-to-day — and how they improve over time. This includes Reg E and Reg Z workflows, vendor performance, and the systems that ensure quality and compliance. You won’t just monitor outcomes — you’ll shape how the work gets done, working across teams to reduce risk, improve accuracy, and build processes that hold up as we grow. What You’ll Own Vendor oversight for dispute and fraud workflows, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements, SLAs, and quality standards Day-to-day performance management across offshore BPO partners, including KPIs, reporting, and ongoing calibration Audit and control processes that identify gaps in dispute handling, documentation, and compliance readiness Root cause analysis across disputes, chargebacks, and operational errors — and the actions that prevent repeat issues Cross-functional workflows with Risk, Compliance, Legal, Fraud, and Product to improve dispute accuracy and operational clarity SOPs and process design for new products, regulatory changes, and evolving servicing models The Impact Your work directly affects member trust. You look beyond individual tickets or vendor metrics and understand how dispute operations affect members, risk exposure, and the broader business. You’re comfortable working with imperfect information and use judgment to move things forward while improving the system along the way. You work well across teams. You bring Risk, Operations, Compliance, and vendor partners into alignment without creating friction. You’re open to feedback and use it to sharpen your thinking. When priorities shift or new risks emerge, you adapt quickly while maintaining clarity on what matters most. What to Expect This role has real ownership. You’ll work closely with offshore vendors and internal stakeholders, balancing day-to-day execution with longer-term improvements. Priorities will evolve as we scale and as regulatory needs change — and you’ll help shape how we respond. Dave vs. Goliath. At Dave, data is the foundation of the financial infrastructure we build for millions of members. As our first Senior AI Reconciliation Analyst , you'll establish the reconciliation foundation for Dave's data systems — designing the pipelines, anomaly rules, and AI-powered matching logic that keep our financial data trustworthy and audit-ready. You'll sit at the intersection of data engineering, finance, and operations, serving as the technical lead who helps Engineering, Finance/Accounting, and Reconciliation Operations move faster and catch problems before they become incidents. This role is for someone who thinks in systems, is energized by financial data complexity, and wants to build something foundational from the ground up. What You'll Do Build the reconciliation foundation. Design and implement the data infrastructure that reconciles transactions across internal systems (e.g.,operation, ledger) and external partners (ACH networks, banking rails, payment processors), ensuring every dollar in equals every dollar out. Lead anomaly detection and rules development. Develop and maintain a library of anomaly detection rules — covering timing differences, partial matches, unexpected delays, and true errors — and evolve them over time using ML-based signals as data matures. Implement AI-powered matching. Apply probabilistic and fuzzy matching techniques to automatically resolve ambiguous or near-match transactions, reducing manual review queues and improving straight-through processing rates. Flag and triage unmatched records. Build real-time and batch pipelines that surface unmatched, delayed, or anomalous transactions to the right stakeholders, with enough context for fast resolution. Partner cross-functionally as the technical lead. Serve as the primary data partner for Engineering (system integration and pipeline reliability), Finance/Accounting (period-end close, audit support), and Recon Operations (workflow tooling, exception handling). Define data quality standards. Establish validation frameworks that distinguish expected timing lags from genuine discrepancies, and document data contracts between upstream systems. Drive automation and process improvement. Identify and eliminate manual reconciliation workloads through scalable pipelines, alerting systems, and self-serve tooling for operations teams. Elevate the team. Share reconciliation and data quality best practices, mentor analysts, and help establish this function as a core capability within the Analytics org. What You'll Need 5+ years of experience in data analytics, data engineering, or financial data roles — ideally with direct exposure to reconciliation, settlements, or financial operations. Deep SQL proficiency and strong Python skills (pandas, PySpark, or equivalent); experience with DBT a plus. Hands-on experience with Snowflake and/or Databricks , including pipeline development, scheduling, and data modeling. Familiarity with ACH transaction cycles , payment rails, or financial settlement processes — you understand why timing differences exist and how to model around them. Experience building anomaly detection logic , whether rule-based, statistical, or ML-driven. Exposure to probabilistic/fuzzy matching techniques for entity resolution or transaction matching. Strong cross-functional communication skills — you can translate a data quality issue into clear language for a Finance partner and a technical spec for an Engineer. Practical AI/ML knowledge , including supervised and unsupervised methods relevant to reconciliation — anomaly detection (isolation forest, autoencoders), clustering for transaction grouping, and classification models for match/no-match decisions. Experience working with LLMs or AI-assisted tooling (e.g., prompt engineering, LLM-based data extraction, or AI-augmented workflow automation) to accelerate analysis and reduce manual review. Experience in fintech or financial services strongly preferred. Bachelor's degree in a field requiring analytical or structured thinking (e.g., STEM, Economics, Finance); Master's degree preferred. Why You'll Love This Job You're building from zero. This is a greenfield role — you'll define what best-in-class reconciliation infrastructure looks like at Dave, and your decisions will shape how the company manages financial data for years. Your work has direct financial impact. Every unmatched transaction you catch, every anomaly rule you write, and every manual process you automate has a measurable effect on financial accuracy and operational efficiency. You'll sit at the center of the business. Reconciliation touches everything — member disbursements, ExtraCash collections, banking partner settlements, and period-end close. You'll have visibility into the full financial picture. You'll solve genuinely hard problems. Timing lags, partial matches, multi-rail money movement — financial reconciliation is one of the most intellectually demanding data challenges in fintech. You'll contribute to a bigger mission. Accurate, trustworthy financial data underpins every product decision we make. Your work directly supports Dave's mission to level the financial playing field for everyday people. Technologies We Use and Teach SQL, Python, Snowflake, dbt, Airflow, Looker Location: Remote — open to US Don’t let imposter syndrome get in the way of an incredible opportunity. Dave is leading the charge in creating a new era of credit products that prioritizes speed, affordability, and accessibility, making it the go-to financial partner for those who need it most. Dave is hiring a Software Engineering Manager to lead our Ledger & Reconciliation Platform team — the systems that ensure every dollar moving through Dave is correct, fully accounted for, and auditable end-to-end. The Opportunity You’ll lead a team building Dave’s internal financial source of truth from the ground up. This is a greenfield effort to replace external systems with a proprietary ledger and reconciliation platform that supports all current and future products. This work sits at the intersection of distributed systems and real-world financial operations, where correctness is non-negotiable. You’ll partner closely with Accounting, Finance, Product, and Data to translate how money actually moves into systems that are deterministic, traceable, and built to stand up to audit. Not everything is fully defined — you’ll help shape the foundation. What You’ll Build & Own Lead and grow a small, high-leverage team building ledger systems and reconciliation pipelines from the ground up Define architecture that prioritizes correctness, idempotency, and auditability over short-term convenience Design and evolve double-entry ledger models, transaction lifecycles, and reconciliation workflows across multiple products Build systems that reconcile internal state with external partners (banks, processors, networks) with high confidence Partner closely with Accounting, Finance, Product, and Data Engineering to encode financial rules and controls directly into system design Establish engineering practices focused on data integrity, observability, and reliable recovery The Impact Your team owns the integrity of Dave’s financial systems. You’ve worked in environments where getting the numbers right isn’t optional, and you bring that mindset into how you design systems and guide your team. You make thoughtful trade-offs between speed and durability, and you care about building systems that hold up over time — especially under audit and scale. You also lead through collaboration. You work closely with Accounting, Finance, Product, and Data partners to ensure systems reflect how money actually moves. You ask thoughtful questions, incorporate feedback, and help your team navigate ambiguity without losing momentum. You bring structure where it doesn’t yet exist and help others connect their work to the broader system. What to Expect You’ll join at an early stage of building a foundational platform. The problems are complex and evolving, and you’ll have real autonomy to shape both the system and the team. Decisions are grounded in data, collaboration, and long-term impact rather than short-term fixes.
